The Fall Of Man

Genesis 3:1-13
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,
3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'"
4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman.
5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
9 But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?"
10 He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."
11 And he said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"
12 The man said, "The woman you put here with me--she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it."
13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

1. v1 - Q: What is Satan's first tactic here?
A: Get the woman to doubt God's words.

2. Q: What does Satan want us to doubt today?
A: - That God exists
- That we will face judgment
- That we need to repent of lying, immorality, greed, bad language, etc ...

Ephesians 5:3-7
3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.
4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.
5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a man is an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient.
7 Therefore do not be partners with them.

(Highlight specific sins and emphasize verse 5.)

3. V2,3 - Q: How does Eve do in resisting Satan?
A: She almost knows what God said (Look at Genesis 2:17 not TOUCH but EAT)

4. Q: Why is it dangerous to almost know Gods' Will?
A: Can be deceived that you are saved, but in reality you are not (Read - Matthew 7-21-23 Highlight that they thought that they were saved)

5. V4,5 - Q: What is Satan's tactic here?
A: He denies the seriousness of the consequences of sin and highlights the benefits.

6. Q: How does he do that today?
A: - Immorality is important to choose a mate in today's society
- Racism is a biblical concept
- Smoking is fine as long as it is outside the church building

V6 PREACH : Illustrate how this pattern holds true for all times that we fall away form Gods' Will

(a) SEE (b) DESIRE (c) TAKE (d) EAT (e) GIVE
(NOTE: MEN CANNOT BLAME THE WOMEN FOR ADAM WAS RIGHT THERE WITH HER)

V7-13 Paint the picture of how defensive Adam becomes on being caught. He blames God and the woman. Eve again blames the serpent.

7. Q: What can we do to take responsibility for our lives?
A : - Be honest
- Be humble and ask for help (Study the Bible with whoever brought you)
- Start reading Bible everyday
- Start making the changes that we need to and stop pretending everything is fine.
